These Firesense Extreme fire suppression systems from SPA Design / Protrust Solutions are all FIA homologated (Ex.068.22 per FIA Technical List 16) and SCCA legal for all cars!
The FK-5-1-12 fire suppressing agent (commercially known as 3M™ Novec™ 1230) is the latest "green" replacement for ozone-depleting Halon. FK‑5‑1‑12 is ozone-friendly, non-corrosive (safe for electronics), alcohol-resistant (effective on methanol fires), and non-conductive (effective on Electric and Hybrid vehicles as well as Lithium battery fires). It is stored as a liquid under pressure that releases as a gas, which means zero cleanup afterwards. Unlike Halon (and many of its replacements), FK‑5‑1‑12 is non-toxic, which makes it ideal for use in confined spaces.
Each FIA-approved Extreme system includes a filled and pressurized bottle, bottle mounting brackets, 6m (20 ft) of 8mm Synflex tubing, fittings, three push-on tee connectors, 2 cockpit discharge nozzles, and 2 engine bay discharge nozzles.
Electrical Systems also include a power pack, two actuation switches, and electrical connectors.
Mechanical Systems also include one 6 foot actuating cable, one 12 foot actuating cable, and cable hardware.
Note that FIA rules require fire systems to be inspected and re-certified every 2 years. Most sanctioning bodies (including SCCA) will not accept a fire system that is past is service date.
